“Awww, yeah. The edge is off. I gots me a date with Netflix and some eggrolls.”
day 28: a song that makes you feel guilty
this does the trick.
every time i listen to this i feel like an awful person. i am reminded of how self-centered i am in everyday life. i get completely enveloped in my life, my future, my problems, my this my that… it’s a sickness really.
this just seems to bring a little gravity to things- there’s more to life than you basically. if i really did stop and pursue the things that God would show me if i simply slowed down and stepped outside of myself, i’m sure it would be an amazing experience. that’s why i love volunteering- it forces you to step out of the “me” box for a few hours and do something for someone else. but volunteering isn’t everyday, so the thought of making it a lifestyle is a little bigger endeavor…God’s perspective is a little bit different than ours.
brandon heath definitely gives you a slap in the face with this one, but conviction is usually a positive thing.

day 29: a song from your childhood
i think most of our generation would agree that this is a cornerstone song of the 90s…
i didnt say it was musically great, but catchy? Absolutely.
i remember my elementary school days with my purple walkman and my 3 necessary cds: N*sync, Britney and Backstreet Boys.
its hard to choose superiority between the boy bands, but between you and me, i think i always knew justin had talent that would last beyond the boy band years…anyway, what group of girls did not have times where you would play the best songs on your boombox and assign singing parts (nick or aj) and choreograph intense dance routines from the amazing music videos we saw?
i still have an amazing 90s playlist filled with destiny’s child, savage garden, sugar ray, TLC, the wallflowers, blink and BBmak…
ya. def the good ol’ days :)

DAY 30: your favorite song this time last year
i think this is a super hard challenge. choosing one song each day to fill the demand is extremely limiting!
this time last year though: my first semester at UT! I was living in the dorms with a random roommate and had absolutely no idea what i had just gotten myself into. I remember being SO unhappy at OU and i was in desperate need of a change- UT was where I always wanted to go, so getting the acceptance letter was one of the best moments ever! Even though being in a new environment was terrifying, i knew it was the right choice because i listened to my heart. I was so excited about what life had in store for me
i still love this song as much as i did last year- i love how upbeat it is and the harmony is wonderful. pete yorn and scarlett have such voice chemistry! this song always had the power to instantly change the mood- and makes you want to get out and experience life
